On a Sunday evening, November 7, 2021, in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia, 28-year-old Shamecca Franklin, a Black female, was walking down the 800 block of East Willard Street. It was just after 5 p.m. when her life was tragically cut short. A man, who appeared to have been lying in wait, emerged from a corner and opened fire at point-blank range. Shamecca was struck by multiple gunshots, including several to the head, and collapsed onto the street.
