Francisco Lopez, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot to death in Galena Park, Texas, on September 20, 2021. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 1:30 a.m., in the front yard of a home on Leggett Drive. Surveillance footage captured moments before the shooting showed a car stopping near the scene, with two individuals talking to someone inside the vehicle. Shortly after, the car drove off, and the two individuals walked away.
Approximately two and a half minutes later, at least ten gunshots were heard, and Francisco was found dead.
Francisco was a student at Galena Park High School and had recently started a job, eagerly anticipating his first paycheck. His family described him as a sweet, kind, and respectful young man with a bright future ahead of him. On the night of the incident, his parents believed he was safely asleep in his room, unaware of the tragic events that would unfold.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office has been investigating the case, but as of now, no arrests have been made. The surveillance footage has not definitively identified the individuals involved, and the car seen in the footage has not been confirmed as connected to the shooting. Additionally, police believe there may be a second victim due to blood spatter found a block away, but this person has not been located.
Francisco's sister, Katia Lopez, has been pleading for anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the need to stop the perpetrator before more harm is done. The community and law enforcement continue to seek answers and justice for Francisco's untimely death.
