Wendi Dawn Sims, a 39-year-old woman from San Angelo, Texas, tragically died on February 14, 2017. Her death was ruled a homicide. The preliminary autopsy report revealed that Sims died from a perforating gunshot wound to the head, which resulted in brain injuries. The suspect in this case was identified as Henry Robinson Chipman, a 78-year-old resident of San Angelo.
According to the report, Chipman shot Sims before turning the gun on himself.
Carlos Fernandez Sanchez, who identified himself as Sims' boyfriend, discovered the bodies when he went to check on her. Sanchez had planned to go out for dinner and dancing with Sims that evening but grew concerned when she didn't respond. He found Sims lying faced up on the bathroom floor and Chipman sitting in front of the bed with a gunshot wound through his temple. Sanchez described Sims as an outgoing person who could light up the room with her presence and make everyone feel special.
The San Angelo Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division conducted an investigation into the incident. The investigation revealed that Sims worked as a caretaker for Chipman, who was reportedly obsessed with her. Despite Sims' complaints about Chipman's behavior, she did not take his actions seriously, considering them to be flirtatious. The police found no illegal substances in the home.
Sims is survived by two children, a 20-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son, as well as several brothers and sisters. Her mother, who was contacted at her home in Seminole, declined to comment on the incident.
