Arthur Reddy, an 84-year-old man from Indio, California, was found deceased in his home on March 21, 2025. Authorities responded to a welfare check at his residence on Green Hills Court after concerns were raised by a handyman who had been called to the house. Upon arrival, officers found the doors and windows locked and received no response from inside.
Forced entry was made, leading to the discovery of Arthur Reddy and his wife, Judith Reddy, both 84 years old, deceased in separate rooms of the house.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect in the case—Kevin James Reddy, the 51-year-old son of Arthur and Judith Reddy. Police located Kevin Reddy at a home in Palm Desert, where he initially told officers that his parents had gone to a retreat in Los Angeles. However, he soon barricaded himself inside the residence, prompting a response from the Desert Regional SWAT Team. After several hours, he surrendered to authorities without further incident.
Court documents revealed disturbing details about the crime scene. Investigators found safes containing live rounds of 9mm and. 38 Special ammunition, as well as a shotgun. Evidence suggested that a shotgun may have been used in the killing of Arthur Reddy, as pellets consistent with shotgun birdshot were found in one of the victims. Additionally, the felony complaint alleged that Kevin Reddy may have stabbed his mother, Judith Reddy.
Kevin Reddy was charged with two counts of murder with a special circumstance and pleaded not guilty during his arraignment. He is being held without bail and is scheduled to return to court for a felony settlement conference. His criminal history includes convictions for attempted murder, weapons violations, and resisting arrest. Neighbors described him as aggressive and unpredictable, stating that he frequently caused disturbances and had previously posted bail on multiple felony charges.
