In the winter of 2025, the city of Baltimore marked its first homicide of the year with the death of Richie Juan Briggs Sr., a 36-year-old Black male. On the afternoon of January 9th, at approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to reports of a shooting in the 5900 block of Daywalt Avenue in the northeastern part of the city.
