On March 29, 2025, a missing persons report led Kansas City police to a grim discovery at an Extended Stay motel. Inside one of the rooms, officers found the bodies of 42-year-old Marvin Sessoms, an African American male, and his 38-year-old wife, Maleeka Sessoms. Both had been fatally shot.
