Bennie Anthony Artis Jr., a 51-year-old man from Portsmouth, Virginia, tragically lost his life on March 23, 2025. Artis was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds late Sunday afternoon in the 500 block of Cumberland Avenue. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. His passing deeply affected his community, as he was known for his contributions and kindness, particularly through his car wash business, which he operated in the London Plaza area of Portsmouth.
