In the late afternoon of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the courtyard of The Willows Apartments in New Orleans East became a crime scene. It was there that 35-year-old Christopher Hubbard, a Black male, was found unresponsive, having sustained at least one gunshot wound. The New Orleans Police Department responded to a call of a shooting in the 7000 block of Lawrence Road at approximately 3:52 p.m. and discovered Hubbard, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
