In the late hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, the quiet of a street in Country Club Hills, a municipality in north St. Louis County, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When officers from the Country Club Hills Police Department arrived at the 5600 block of Gatesworth Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m., they discovered a grim scene. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were identified as 29-year-old Demetrius Wagner of St. Louis and Alex Taylor, who was also 29.
