In the early hours of Sunday, April 5, 2026, the quiet of a Pompano Beach street was broken by the discovery of a man's body. Rayon Sanchez, a 40-year-old Black male, was found lying in the roadway in the 1600 block of North Dixie Highway. The initial call to the Broward Sheriff's Office came in at approximately 2 a.m., reporting an injured person. Upon their arrival, deputies found Sanchez had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
