In the late hours of a Wednesday evening in Los Angeles, 45-year-old Kareem J. Newton, a Black male, was fatally shot on April 8, 2026. The incident occurred at the intersection of East Fifth and South Crocker streets. Newton was inside a vehicle with a female companion when an unidentified man approached them. The assailant fired a single shot, striking Newton in the abdomen, before fleeing the scene on foot. The woman who was with Newton was not injured during the attack.
