On the evening of April 1, 2026, in Adelanto, California, 33-year-old Elias Justino Alonzo was found shot in a driveway in the 10400 block of Cimmeron Trail Drive. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The incident was one of two fatal shootings that occurred at approximately the same time, prompting a significant investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
At about 9:05 p.m., deputies had first
responded to reports of shots fired in the 11700 block of Chamberlaine Way, where they discovered another victim, 18-year-old Angelo Chaparro, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Chaparro was also transported to a hospital, where he later died. Both Alonzo and Chaparro were residents of Adelanto.
Detectives with the Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division–Homicide Detail took charge of the case and determined that the two homicides were related. They are being investigated as a single case. While the circumstances that connect the two deadly shootings have not been publicly detailed by law enforcement, the investigation remains active and ongoing.
