Nakia Nicole Kelly, born on July 26, 2001, in Monroe, Louisiana, was known for her vibrant personality and infectious smile that could light up any room. After graduating from Delhi High School in 2020, she embraced life with a love for shopping, music, and, most importantly, her family. The heart of her world was her three beloved children, Ramani, Ski`Lar, and Niko, for whom her devotion knew no bounds. Whether it was a simple trip to McDonald's with them or joyous family gatherings, Nakia found her greatest happiness in being a mother, and her loving spirit left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
In the wake of the shooting, the Texas City Police Department quickly identified a suspect. Kristian McMurrin was taken into custody in connection with the double shooting that resulted in Nakia Kelley's death. Authorities charged McMurrin with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and his bond was set at $500,000.
