In the early morning hours of September 2, 2026, the body of 49-year-old Evans Tshongwe was discovered in South Bend Park, a public space located near the Lakewood Amphitheater in southeast Atlanta, Georgia. An Atlanta police officer on a routine patrol of the park around 9:00 a.m. found Mr. Tshongwe lying in a field with a significant amount of blood, having sustained what was later confirmed to be multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
