David Flowers, a 23-year-old Black male from Philadelphia, was known to family and friends as “Day-Day.” On the night of Wednesday, August 26, 2009, Philadelphia police were called to the 200 block of North Simpson Street shortly before midnight. Inside the first-floor living room area of the home, officers found David lying on the floor with severe trauma to his head. Philadelphia Fire Department medics responded, but David did not survive.
