An 18-year-old Black male, Mikel Cooper, lost his life in a drive-by shooting on October 26, 2020, in Bessemer, Alabama. At the time of the incident, Cooper was a senior at Bessemer City High School. The shooting, which occurred around 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of 6th Avenue North and 15th Street, also resulted in injuries to three other male teenagers, ages 13, 16, and 18.
