In the late afternoon of May 7, 2024, the life of 33-year-old Carlos Leton Searight, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. The day had been progressing as any other until a passing motorist made a grim discovery in the 6800 block of 1st Avenue South. There, lying unresponsive in the front yard of a residence, was Searight. A call to 911 brought officers from the East Precinct to the scene at approximately 3:20 p.m.
