In the summer of 2024, a Birmingham community was shaken by the violent death of Obray Carter, a 39-year-old man. On the afternoon of June 5th, Carter was found slumped over his motorcycle at the intersection of First Avenue South and Center Street South in the North Titusville neighborhood. He had been shot in what law enforcement officials would later describe as a targeted attack. Emergency services were called to the scene, but Carter was pronounced dead from his injuries.
