In the early moments of March 1, 2023, the quiet of a Mobile, Alabama, neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunfire. Responding to a call at approximately 12:17 a.m., police officers arrived on the 1500 block of Heron Drive to a grim discovery. There, lying in the roadway, was a man who had been shot.
