On April 15, 2022, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers from the Valley Police Department and East Alabama Fire District EMS responded to a report of a shooting in the 200 block of Martin Luther King Drive in Valley, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Jarez Cytril Ricks suffering from two gunshot wounds to the upper chest. Ricks was transported to EAMC-Lanier emergency room, where he succumbed to his injuries.
