In the early hours of a Saturday morning, the sounds of gunfire shattered the peace of a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. On August 17, 2013, at approximately 12:25 a.m., officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the rear of the 1500 block of 23rd Street, SE, following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
