In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 17-year-old David Jerome Desmond III was tragically cut short. On December 5, 2021, on Fulton Avenue Southwest, the sounds of gunfire pierced the night. When Birmingham police officers arrived at the scene around 10:20 p.m., they found the young Black male unresponsive in the street, suffering from gunshot wounds.
