In the early morning hours of a Thursday in June 2021, a dispute between two men in a Birmingham, Alabama, apartment escalated into fatal violence, leaving one man dead. Earnest LaDarrius Moody, a 33-year-old Black male, was shot and killed inside a residence at The Crest at Southside apartments on Beacon Parkway West. The initial altercation, which reportedly stemmed from a domestic issue, had occurred earlier, and it is believed the suspect later returned to the apartment and opened fire.
