Montrell Fredriskgus Holloway, a 29-year-old Black male from Birmingham, was killed on March 21, 2021, in a shooting at a residence on Alameda Avenue in west Birmingham. Police were called that evening and found him inside the home with a gunshot wound, and Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced him dead at the scene. The killing was quickly described by investigators as domestic in nature, giving the case an especially intimate and painful backdrop from the very beginning.
