On a Saturday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 27-year-old Korey Carlisle, a Black male, was cut short by gunfire. The fatal encounter took place on October 27, 2018, in the 600 block of Goldwire Place. Responding to a call of a person shot at approximately 12:45 p.m., Birmingham police officers discovered Carlisle's body at the bottom of a staircase.
