In the late hours of a September Friday night in 2013, a lively off-campus block party near Tuskegee University in Alabama took a tragic turn, ending the life of 21-year-old student Robert 'B.J.' Smith. A finance major and a member of the university's tennis team, Smith, a male, was enjoying the gathering with friends when gunfire suddenly erupted.
