On a summer day in 2015, the life of 25-year-old Markeita Holiness, a Black/African American mother of two, was tragically cut short in Bessemer, Alabama. On August 3rd, Holiness was fatally shot, becoming one of numerous homicide victims in the Birmingham area that year.
