In the course of his duties on a Sunday, October 7, 1973, Birmingham Police Officer Felix Underwood was investigating a traffic accident when his life was tragically cut short. While at the scene, a person described as emotionally disturbed unexpectedly entered Officer Underwood's patrol car and fatally shot him. This sudden act of violence ended the life of a dedicated public servant and military veteran. The male officer had previously served in the United States Navy.
