In the late afternoon of a Thursday in the Birmingham area, a report of a burglary in progress and a person shot sent Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies to the 1500 block of Charter East Circle in Center Point. Upon their arrival on February 20, 2025, they discovered 56-year-old Harold Crumel, a male, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside a residence.
