In the small town of Centreville, Alabama, a dedicated lawman's life was cut short in a sudden act of violence. Deputy Sheriff John Roderick of the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, a male, was shot and killed on April 8, 1907, while in the line of duty. His death occurred as he and a deputy from neighboring Tuscaloosa County were attempting to serve a warrant and arrest a man suspected of burglary.
