Michael Brooks, originally from Durham, North Carolina, was found dead on October 23, 2018, in a vacant lot in Gainesville, Florida. He had only recently arrived in Gainesville and was known to frequent the area near 1700 NE 8th Ave. Brooks was likely murdered in the early morning hours of that day. Authorities have yet to determine the circumstances or the individuals involved in his death, and they continue to seek any information that might assist in resolving this case.
