Lauren Ashley Martin, a 34-year-old photographer from Sanford, Florida, died on November 5, 2024, after being shot multiple times outside a home in the Greystone Townhomes area. The incident occurred following a long-standing feud between Martin and Savon Chantay Tyler, 35, which had been escalating online.
On the evening of November 5, Martin drove to Tyler's residence, where the two women engaged in a verbal altercation that quickly turned physical.
The confrontation was livestreamed on social media by both Martin and Tyler's girlfriend, Lakevia Davonna Pringle. According to the livestream, Tyler came out of her home with a miniature baseball bat and a 9 mm handgun, which she initially set down on a green utility box. The argument escalated, with both women using the baseball bat before Tyler retrieved the gun and shot Martin twice, once in the arm and once in the abdomen.
The feud between Martin and Tyler was reportedly over photographs that Martin had taken of Tyler. Comments made online had fueled the tension, leading to the violent confrontation. Martin's family described the situation as having "spiraled out of control" from online exchanges.
Savon Chantay Tyler was arrested and charged with first-degree premeditated murder. She claimed self-defense, but police found these claims to be unsupported. Tyler is being held without bond and has entered a plea of not guilty.
Lakevia Davonna Pringle, Tyler's girlfriend, was also charged in connection with the murder. She was accused of principal in the first-degree to first-degree premeditated homicide for livestreaming the incident and encouraging Tyler to continue the altercation. Pringle turned herself in at the Sanford Police Department on November 8 and was taken into custody.
Martin was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her family described her death as a "tragic loss" and set up a GoFundMe to assist with funeral costs and support for her three children.
