Jonathan Richardson, a 34-year-old resident of Boynton Beach, Florida, died on April 9, 2024, following a dispute with his roommate, Andrew Pepin. The incident occurred at their apartment located at 1499 S. Federal Highway.
The dispute began when Richardson accused Pepin of withholding drugs, leading to an argument. According to Pepin's statement to the police, Richardson became aggressive and began "coming at him." In response, Pepin shot Richardson three times.
Police responded to a call about a suspicious incident at around 4 a.m. and found Richardson lying on his left side with three gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at 4:15 a.m. by Boynton Beach Fire Rescue. The medical examiner's report indicated that Richardson suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his right arm and another to the back of his head, directly behind the left ear.
During the investigation, officers found a rifle on a bed in plain view and three spent shell casings on the floor of the apartment. Andrew Pepin was subsequently booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and faces charges of second-degree murder with a firearm.
The incident highlights the tragic outcome of a confrontation fueled by a dispute over drug use between two roommates.
