Kidd's attorneys have explored the option of placing him in a secure nursing home with a memory care unit, as recommended by a neuropsychological evaluation. However, finding such a facility has proven challenging.
The case highlights significant legal and logistical issues, including the lack of appropriate facilities for individuals with dementia who are deemed incompetent to stand trial. The court is currently awaiting a third mental evaluation to determine potential next steps, while Kidd remains in jail.
