In the fading afternoon light of a Monday in south Macon, a burst of violence shattered the quiet of the 3700 block of Spencer Circle. On October 7, 2024, deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were called to a residence where they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man, identified as 44-year-old Jason Elliott Mitchem, was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
