In the early morning hours of July 9, 2023, a distressing discovery was made in a northwest Atlanta neighborhood. Responding to a call about an injured person around 8 a.m., police arrived at a residence on Mary George Avenue NW to find Charles Wright, a 41-year-old Black male, suffering from what initially appeared to be a head injury. Emergency services were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. It was later determined that he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
