In the early evening of June 20, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at the Heritage Station apartment complex in southwest Atlanta. When the chaos subsided, two young men were found fatally wounded. One of them was Mario Favors, a 15-year-old Black/African American male. He and 22-year-old Deonta Brown were sitting on the steps eating chips when a gunman opened fire. A third individual was also wounded in the attack but survived.
