In the late hours of a February evening in Columbus, Georgia, the life of Jeffery Randez Smith, a 36-year-old Black man, was tragically cut short. On February 27, 2023, while riding his bicycle near the intersection of 35th Street and 5th Avenue, Smith was fatally shot.
