In the late hours of a Saturday night in Lexington, Kentucky, the life of 24-year-old Dion Jermaine Higgins, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On October 20, 2024, just before 11 p.m., police were called to the 400 block of East Fifth Street where they found Higgins suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
