In the summer of 2024, a 29-year-old Black male named Jakari Markel Gregoire lost his life to gun violence in New Iberia, Louisiana. On the evening of Friday, July 26th, Gregoire was shot near the intersection of Anderson and Field Streets. He was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent surgery for his injuries. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his wounds.
