Jonathan L. Thomas, a 25-year-old Black/African American male, tragically lost his life in a fatal shooting on the evening of January 9, 2024, in the Gert Town neighborhood of New Orleans. Officers from the New Orleans Police Department were dispatched to the vicinity of Oleander and Short Streets after receiving a report of a person down. Upon their arrival, they discovered Thomas with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
