In the early evening of December 20, 2023, a verbal dispute in the 2600 block of Convention Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, escalated with tragic finality. Derrick Broadway, a 44-year-old Black male, was shot during the altercation. The incident occurred at approximately 7:19 p.m. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Broadway was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
