In the early morning hours of August 1, 2023, Jesse Dewayne Thomas II, a 39-year-old Caucasian male, was inside a home in the 6000 block of Indiana Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, when he was fatally struck by gunfire. Police, who responded to a call about shots being fired shortly after 3 a.m., found Thomas unresponsive inside the residence. Despite the efforts of officers and emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
