On the afternoon of June 22, 2020, Paul Guadalupe 'Pappy' Garcia, a 50-year-old male, was at a residence located near the intersection of 16th Street and Elmwood Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. The situation turned violent around 5:15 p.m. when shots rang out from the street. Although multiple people were gathered outside the home at the time of the disturbance, the gunfire was directed toward the house itself, striking Garcia who was situated inside the residence.
