On the evening of June 3, 2024, at approximately 9:40 p.m., Durham police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Fayetteville Street and Linwood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 62-year-old Durham resident Roy Shealey suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services transported Shealey to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
