On August 20, 2023, at approximately 6:15 p.m., Greensboro police responded to a reported shooting in the 3700 block of Lakefield Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 19-year-old Darnell Luther Hamilton suffering from a gunshot wound. Hamilton was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Following an investigation, on October 2, 2023, Greensboro police arrested 22-year-old Ja'quan Karieg Cobbs in connection with Hamilton's death. Cobbs
