In the afternoon hours of a late autumn day in Philadelphia, tragedy struck on the 2000 block of West Godfrey Avenue in the East Germantown neighborhood. On November 22, 2023, 42-year-old Ernest Harris, a Black male, was on the sidewalk in front of a barbershop when the sound of gunfire shattered the daily rhythm of the community. First responders arrived at the scene around 4:21 p.m. to find Harris suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
