On July 18, 2024, at approximately 11:02 p.m., 23-year-old Julio Saavedra was fatally shot in the 14100 block of Ramona Boulevard in Baldwin Park, California. Despite sustaining a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Saavedra managed to transport himself to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, confirming that Saavedra's death resulted from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and ruling the
manner of death as homicide.
Investigators from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Homicide Bureau have indicated that the shooting may be gang-related; however, the exact circumstances remain under investigation. As of now, there are no available descriptions of suspects or vehicles involved in the incident. Prior to his death, Saavedra had a history of legal issues. In 2007, he was arrested in Los Angeles County for possession of a controlled substance for sale.
