On June 3, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., 18-year-old Darnell Lovings Jr. was fatally shot in Banning, California. The incident occurred in the 700 block of North Hargrave Street, where officers found Lovings Jr. on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, a juvenile male, sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the shooting and received treatment at a local hospital.
Authorities have not released his identity due to his age.
Investigators quickly identified a juvenile suspect, whose identity remains undisclosed because of his age. The suspect was arrested without incident and booked into Riverside County Juvenile Hall on charges of murder and attempted murder. Police have stated that no other suspects are being sought in connection with this case.
