On March 23, 2024, at approximately 4:23 a.m., the Fresno Police Department responded to a three-round ShotSpotter activation in the 100 block of East O'Neil Avenue in southwest Fresno. Upon arrival, officers discovered 47-year-old Ryan Lecour near a gate leading into an alley, suffering from a gunshot wound to his midsection. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Lecour was pronounced dead at the scene.
